Extant are the UK’s leading performing arts company that explores visual impairment; they've been creating unique experiences since 1997 under the pioneering leadership of CEO/AD Dr. Maria Oshodi. They place visually impaired people at the centre of all they do.
Our award winning work, Unseen, launched in March 2024, is a gripping audio drama that examines the subtle and insidious effect of domestic abuse on the blind and visually impaired community. The entire VI-led creative team and cast of 20+ people created the work in response to the Unseen Report by the Vision Foundation.
As Operations Director (since 2023) I drive the organisational focus on strategy, finances, HR, governance and policy writing. In April 2027 Extant will change its leadership shape and as part of this process I've designed new spaces to test this thinking called: Organisational R&D and Collective Dreaming
