Programming / Curation
From 2009 - 2014 I worked at Pavilion Dance South West - a dance house on the South coast of England. During this time I programmed, commissioned and supported 100s of artists and companies creating festivals and events including B-Town Throwdown, Thursday Night is Dance Night, 3 specialist industry summits and Unusual Dance in Unusual Places.
As the Director of Citymoves (based in NE Scotland), I was responsible for strategic vision and the artistic and financial success of the organisation. For DanceLive 15 I commissioned Graham Love to make this LEGO stop motion animation of the festival.
I was invited by Seeta Patel Dance to be Talk's Curator for their work Not Today's Yesterday. The work looked at notions of colonialism and white washing. Over 18 months I brought together some of the UK's finest minds for in depth, post show talks with Seeta about the work and the themes inc. Dr Kehinde Andrews, Suhaiymah Manzoor-Khan, Alice Procter, Bidisha SK Mamata, Tobi Kyeremateng, Onni Gust, Pat Noxolo, Sumaya Kassim and Inua Ellams.
